About the Phone Consultation

Ultimately, the consultation will help us determine what services will best serve you. A clinic assistant will gather information about you and the experiences and feelings that brought you to the clinic. The assistant will also explain relevant clinic policies and procedures as well as answer any questions you might have.

When a minor (a person under 18 years of age) is referred to the clinic, the person’s parent or legal guardian must participate in the consultation conversation.

What’s Next?

Once appointments are available, you will be assigned a therapist with the best match of expertise and interest based on the information gathered in the consultation.

You will work together to develop a collaborative treatment plan using your therapist’s expertise in the science and your expertise on your symptoms to address the goals you identify.

Initial sessions will focus on assessment of symptoms, consideration of goals, and building your treatment plan. They are also an opportunity for you to test out worries you may have about therapy. Decisions about the length of treatment and frequency of sessions will depend on the nature of your concerns, goals, and schedule.

When first beginning therapy, weekly meetings are often recommended. This provides consistency and adequate time and space to process what is happening in your life and is flexible depending on your individual needs.
