Impact & Outreach
Provider expertise, cutting-edge services, affordability, a training focus, and dedication to serving the state combine to create an experienced, concentrated, dedicated hub for Psychological Services in Arkansas.
In Arkansas, there are about 5.6 psychologists per county (excluding the Veterans Affairs healthcare system), which means that the Clinic’s eight licensed clinic psychologists supervising 24 graduate psychologists represent the largest psychological treatment organization in Arkansas.
Our unique offerings to the region and all of Arkansas:
- The Clinic is one of the only providers in the state to offer low-cost mental health services with no qualifications required. Individuals do not need insurance, an employment relationship, or other program supplementation to receive high-quality care at a low-cost.
- We offer a sliding-scale for fee services with costs to the community as low as $20 per session per session. The Clinic is one of the only clinics in the state with a sliding-scale fee option and active psychologists on staff — making high-quality psychological care accessible to all socio-economic levels.
- Psychodiagnostic Evaluations are offered at a 75% lower cost compared to community providers in the region.
- The Clinic is one of only a few providers in the entire state to offer autism assessments that reach the threshold to qualify for disability services and other community support programs.
Research-proven, experienced practices and clinicians for Arkansas:
- 2 of the 3 licensed clinical psychologists who are fluent in Spanish in the entire state offer services and supervise psychology trainees in our clinic.
- The clinic is the sole provider of numerous evidence-based interventions, such as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy — not available anywhere else in the region.
- We offer evidence-based, family-centered treatments for autistic youth that help families better understand their child’s diagnosis, strengthen their relationships, reduce stress, and build community.
- The clinic offers periodic group treatments targeting sleep difficulties, emotion regulation, and other common struggles — a rare offering outside of intensive treatment programs.

Planning for the Future of Mental Health in Arkansas
The U.S. is experiencing a burgeoning mental health crisis, which has become increasingly critical in Arkansas where the number of trained mental health professionals falls far short of the community’s needs.
To address these state-wide needs, the Psychological Clinic’s leadership is actively seeking opportunities for growth and expansion, including establishing an endowment to permanently fund and support research, training, and the provision of top-tier mental health services to all Arkansans.
As the Clinic endeavors to address the growing mental health needs of our local community and all of Arkansas, we have outlined three strategic goals:
The Clinic has provided the equivalent of more than $350,000 in mental health services on an annual budget of approximately $40,000 — providing a remarkable return on investment to meet the mental health needs of Arkansas.
“I am proud to lead such a vibrant and dedicated group of faculty and students. I believe that we are a department, clinic, and group of dedicated, caring individuals, who can lead by serving and can fulfill the Chancellor’s call for us to be true to our mission as Arkansas’s premier land-grant institution — to improve the lives of all Arkansans.”
